These are our very first Highland cows! We got them from a family who live just outside of Swift Current, which worked out perfectly since this is a breed we\u2019ve been wanting for years. We\u2019ve actually known them for almost six months now\u2014ever since they brought a livestock trailer into my father\u2019s workplace for repairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While they were chatting with my dad about the trailer, the conversation drifted to livestock. My dad mentioned that we were hoping our kunekune pigs would have piglets soon, and then they said they\u2019d been looking for kunekunes themselves. Then they casually mentioned that they had Highland cows. That\u2019s when my dad told them we\u2019d been searching for Highlands ever since we moved to Saskatchewan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The cows already had names when we got them, courtesy of their original owners. They also came tagged, which wouldn\u2019t have been our first choice, but it\u2019s not that big of a deal. What matters is that they\u2019re finally here, and we couldn\u2019t be happier to have them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
